Marriage
To make arrangements,
come along to the church vestry on a Monday evening (Tuesdays on Bank
Holidays) when a member of the clergy will be available from 6.00 –
7.00 pm. If you are unable to attend at this time, please contact the
parish office (tel: 512 1769).
You
will be invited to attend two preparation sessions to understand more
about the meaning of Christian marriage and what the service will be
like.
Usually,
you will also be invited to attend services when your ‘wedding
banns’ will be read out. ‘Wedding banns’ are the public
announcement of your wedding in your local parish church on three consecutive
Sundays so that your community knows that you are getting married. It
is a legal requirement and also a good opportunity to meet people.
St
Michael and All Angels is a very popular venue for weddings and the
warm feedback from those who have been married here over the years,
sometimes over many generations, is a source of great joy.
